What is your favorite memory/ moment that brought you lots of joy? Participating in the ADA 25 Leadership Institute
What is something people generally don’t know about you? I love true crime
Who is Molly? I am a needlepoint and true crime loving aunt with a passion for words, advocacy and writing.
What gets your fired up about the disability movement? The lack of recognition for people with intellectual disabilities who I feel are often overlooked
when it comes to disabled voices in the media
What is your advocacy platform? Armchair advocacy which is often looked down upon but which is sometimes the only option for those who are immunocompromised.
What barriers or challenges do you face in this movement? Inaccessibility, a learning disability
What do you want those who do not identify with disability to know? There are still many barriers to accessibility and inclusion.
What areas are you still growing/hope to grow? Personally? Professionally? Currently I hope to grow my blog by connecting with others in the disability community who are willing to share their experiences, possibly not exclusively about disability but other things that are of interest to them.
Who was the person/role model who inspired you to look into disability advocacy? Why/how did they inspire you? Tekki Lomnicki, who founded Chicago’s Tellin’ Tales Theatre which has the mission of shattering the barriers between the disabled and able bodied worlds.
When people look at you/up to you, what do you hope they see? Someone who is not afraid to pursue things that others might think who be out of reach for her.
What are your next steps? I’m currently working to expand my blog. I’m also co teaching two sections of a writers workshop for Tellin’ Tales Theatre for young adults with and without disabilities.
